Why 1 Hair Stop? Handmade Human Hair Since 2009

Why 1 Hair Stop? Handmade Human Hair Since 2009

In 2009, we sent our first shipment of hair to Brazil. Raw, unfinished bundles. Once it left our floor it stopped being ours, and it reached women in countries we had never visited, under names that were not ours either. We were good at making hair. We simply never got to meet anyone who wore it.

Nine years later we put our own name on the box. 1 Hair Stop launched in 2018, founded by sisters Raina and Richa Grover, selling first in India and then internationally. Today we manufacture everything ourselves in our own state of the art facility in Pragathi nagar, Hyderabad, with a team of more than two hundred people that is women-led and largely women-staffed. We have delivered over 500,000 orders to more than three lakh customers, and hold 4.9 stars from over 15,000 reviews. Every piece is made from 100% Virgin Remy human hair, ethically temple-sourced in South India. We ship worldwide from that facility, with duties and taxes paid at checkout, so the price you see is the price you pay and nothing is owed when your parcel arrives.

Here is how we got there, what we make, and how it is made.

Our Journey Since 2009

  1. 2009

Started exporting raw unfinished hair to Brazil. The work was unglamorous, sorting, cleaning and grading hair at volume, and it taught us the fundamentals the rest of the business still rests on.

  2. 2011

Entered the USA market, supplying distributors. American buyers were unforgiving about shade consistency, and getting colour to match reliably from one batch to the next became something we had no choice but to master.

  3. 2012

Moved beyond raw hair into finished goods manufacturing. That meant learning base construction, hand-knotting and colour matching rather than only sourcing, and it is where our craft properly began.

  4. 2013

Certified a Two-Star Export House by the Government of India, recognised as one of the country's biggest hair exporters. The certification was earned on export volume rather than claimed in marketing, which is why we still point to it.

  5. 2015

Began wholesale supply to beauty stores and salons. Working alongside stylists brought us closer to the woman actually wearing the hair, and what they told us changed how we finished our pieces.

  6. 2016

Launched our coloured hair line across 72 shades. Building a range that wide was a bet that colour matching mattered more than anything else, and it is still what our consultants match you against today.

  7. 2018

1 Hair Stop launched under our own name, India first and then international. We began with simple clip-in extensions and opened our first studio so women could see and touch the product, which meant we finally heard directly from the people wearing our hair.

  8. Today

Shipping to customers across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, the UAE, Australia, Singapore and beyond. Everything still comes out of the same Hyderabad facility we have manufactured in from the start.

Why Two Sisters Started Selling Directly

Richa and Raina Grover, founders of 1 Hair Stop

Raina and Richa Grover launched 1 Hair Stop in 2018. It began with a small catalogue of simple clip-in extensions at accessible prices, and a lot of unglamorous work: getting the shade range right, answering every question themselves, and opening the first studio so women could see and touch the product before buying it.

"We spent nine years making hair for other people's brands. We knew exactly how good a piece could be, and we also saw what was actually reaching women at the other end. In 2018 we stopped only supplying and started selling directly, because we wanted to be the ones answerable for the piece a woman puts on her head."

Raina & Richa Grover, Founders

What Our Customers Asked Us to Build

Extensions were only ever half the story. As more women came to us, a pattern showed up in what they told our consultants and studio staff: they were not looking for more length. They were dealing with a thinning crown, a hairline that had crept back, a patch that would not grow after surgery or illness. Clip-ins often made it worse, because clips grip hair that is already fragile.

So we started building for that instead. Clip-free toppers came first, sitting securely without clips pulling on delicate hair. Then the Hairline range: a Receding Hairline Topper built for the front rather than the crown, and a Receding Hairline Band for women who need the front covered but not a full topper. Then Frontal Fix and Frontop Fix for targeted front and front-to-top coverage, and Skinject, where the parting is finished so hair reads as growing from the scalp itself. Most recently our Gamechanger wigs, now our fastest-growing category.

The brief never changed across any of them. It has to go on in seconds without a stylist. It has to be comfortable enough for everyday wear. It has to be washable, heat-safe and re-colourable. And it has to look like your own hair, not like a hairpiece.

What our sales data tells us is the encouraging part. Customers are not leaving us for cheaper options; they are moving up from our simpler products to our more advanced ones. Someone who bought clip-ins two years ago is now buying a hairline piece.

What We Offer

Our range runs from a small patch that covers a parting to a full custom wig, and most of it exists because customers told us the standard options were not solving their problem. The clip-free work is the part we are proudest of, because clips are exactly what damages hair that is already fragile.

Clip-free hairline coverage

This is our own invention and the reason many customers come to us. Most hairline pieces on the market grip your hair with clips, right at the temples, which is the worst possible place to add tension if your hairline is already receding. Ours hold without them.

The Receding Hairline Clipfree Band covers the front for women who do not need a full topper. Frontal Fix Clipfree Topper covers the front hairline properly, and FronTop Fix Hybrid Topper extends that coverage from front through to the crown. For heavier recession, the Receding Hairline Hybrid Topper is the fullest option we make. Every one of them comes in wavy and curly. Browse the Hairline Series.

Hair toppers for the crown and parting

Thirty-one pieces across four base types. Silk toppers give a scalp-like parting, because each knotted strand is drawn up through the top silk layer so the knot disappears underneath it. Lace toppers sit lighter and more breathable. Skinject toppers finish the parting so hair reads as growing from the skin itself. There is also a Salt and Pepper Silk Topper for grey hair rather than a dyed approximation of it.

Curly hair is where most brands quietly give up, because a topper has to match your curl pattern as well as your colour or the blend fails at the parting. We make curly across the range, not as an afterthought but knotted in curly texture from the start, so it moves and sits the way the rest of your hair does. Browse hair toppers.

Custom wigs

When coverage needs to be total, we build custom half and full head wigs to your measurements, your density and your shade. Each one is made from scratch after a consultation, which is the only way a wig sits properly on your head rather than approximately on it.

A significant part of this work is for women going through alopecia or cancer treatment, and we approach it differently to the rest of the catalogue. The consultation is unhurried, we can match to photographs of your own hair from before, and the hairline is built to read as yours rather than as a wig line. If you are at the start of this and unsure what you need, a consultation costs nothing and comes with no expectation that you buy anything.

Invisible patches for smaller areas

When you need to cover a specific spot rather than the whole crown. The Invisible Cover-Up Patch is our single most-reviewed product, with over 2,300 reviews, and the INVISI-LIGHT Cover-Up Patch is lighter still, in one and two clip versions. Invisible Push Up Patches add lift at the side or crown, and the Invisible Pro Hair Patch covers a larger area. Curly versions across the range. Browse invisible patches.

Volumizers

For hair that is thinning overall rather than in one place. Available as one, two or three sets, in Classic and Seamless weft, across straight, wavy and curly. The Seamless 3 Set Volumizer is the most reviewed piece in the range with over 270 reviews. Browse volumizers.

Clip-in extensions

Where we started, and still a full seven-piece set. Classic and Seamless 7 Set in straight, wavy and curly, plus balayage blends including Caramel Brown, Mocha Brown, Chestnut and Honey. Browse clip-in extensions.

Bangs, buns and braids

For changing your look in seconds, or softening a hairline without touching scissors. Invisi-Light Front Bangs and Invisi-Light Curtain Bangs, Skinject Clip-in Bangs with a scalp-like base, the Messy Bun Scrunchie with over 880 reviews, a Curly Hair Clip-in Bun and a Braid Hairband. Browse bangs, buns and braids.

Clip-in streaks

Colour without commitment. Ombré shades in Caramel Brown, Mocha, Bronze, Burgundy and Bright Red, plus natural black, and brighter options in purple, lavender and Persian blue. Browse clip-in streaks.

Every piece across the range is 100% Virgin Remy human hair, washable, heat safe and colour safe, and available in straight, wavy and curly textures.

How Your Piece Is Made, Stage by Stage

Every topper, band and wig is handcrafted in our own unit, from scratch. Seven stages, in order.

Inside our Hyderabad facility, from sourcing to finished piece.

  1. Sourcing and segregation

Hair arrives from temples in South India and is segregated by hand. We keep only virgin hair, never chemically treated, dyed or coloured. That is why your piece can be coloured and heat-styled later, the way your own hair can. Hair that has already been processed cannot take that twice.

  2. Cuticle alignment

Every strand is checked so all cuticles face the same direction. That is what Remy actually means, and it is why good hair stays smooth instead of matting after a few washes. The industry shortcut is to acid-strip the cuticles off entirely, which is faster and cheaper but permanently weakens the hair. We do not do it.

  3. Cleansing

The selected hair is shampooed, conditioned and cleansed until free of impurities, before it goes anywhere near a base.

  4. Building the base

The lace or silk foundation is constructed by hand. Base construction decides whether a topper sits flat against your head and whether the parting reads as scalp.

  5. Hand-knotting

Each strand is knotted individually into the base. Most manufacturers tie three or four strands per knot because it is three or four times quicker. We tie one at a time, which is the main reason our pieces look like hair rather than a hairpiece.

84 to 320 hours per piece, depending on size.
  6. The silk draw-through

On silk toppers, every knotted strand is then drawn up through the top silk layer so the knot disappears underneath it. That extra pass is the whole trick behind a scalp-like parting.

  7. Hairline work and quality check

Hairline pieces are the most intricate things we make. The front lace tears if handled wrong, and baby hairs are knotted individually. Only a few of our artisans are trained for it, and if one section goes wrong we remake the whole piece. Everything is inspected before it is styled, set and packed.

Made From Scratch, Only After You Order

Our toppers, bands and wigs are not pulled off a shelf. Each one is built after you order it, in your shade and to your measurements, which is the only way a piece sits and parts like it belongs on your head. We cannot hand-knot two hundred hours of work in advance for a colour and head shape we have not matched to you yet.

So these take weeks, and the more intricate hairline products and custom wigs take longer. In return you get something matched from a 72-shade range, that goes on in seconds, that you can wash, heat-style and re-colour, and that holds up to 12 to 18 months of daily wear. It is closer to commissioning something than to buying stock.

And you are never waiting in silence. You get an email when your base is being built, when your hair has been prepared, when knotting begins, when hairline work starts, and when your piece enters final quality check.

How our drops work

Our premium pieces are released in announced drops rather than listed permanently. Because every piece is hand-knotted by a limited number of trained artisans, we know exactly how many we can make in a month. We would rather open a drop, fill it and close it than leave everything available and quietly build a queue we cannot deliver on. When a drop closes, the waitlist opens for the next one, and joining it is the fastest route in. Our largest release of the year runs around Diwali.

Get Matched Before You Order

1 Hair Stop consultation

Colour matching is the one thing that is genuinely hard to do from a screen, and getting it wrong is the most common reason a piece does not look right. Since every order goes into production the moment you place it, we would rather confirm the match first.

Wherever you are in the world, a consultant will match your shade against your own hair on camera, assess your hair type and work out how much coverage you need. Consultations are booked to suit your time zone, and you can send photographs of your hair in daylight beforehand so the consultant has something accurate to match against before you join. It takes about twenty minutes and costs nothing.

Those reviews are public and unfiltered, critical ones included. You can read them in full here rather than taking our word for it.

Our work is also worn by women whose appearance is their profession. Actors, presenters and filmmakers across the Indian film and television industry wear our pieces on and off camera, among them actor and filmmaker Suhasini Maniratnam, who recorded her own account of wearing ours. When someone is photographed for a living, a hairpiece either holds up or it does not.

Ordering From Outside India

Exporting is the older half of this company, so international orders are not something we added on later. We have been shipping hair worldwide since 2009, and today our largest markets are the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and Singapore. We ship worldwide beyond these.

Every international order ships duties and taxes paid, which means the price at checkout is the price. No customs invoice turns up after your parcel does, and there is nothing to settle at your door. Shipments are fumigated and documented to meet destination-country requirements.

Free worldwide shipping applies on orders over $125, and everything is priced and charged in US dollars, so there is no currency surprise between the product page and your statement.

Colour and fit are matched over video before ordering, so you are not guessing from a shade chart on a screen. If a piece arrives and the shade is not right, we replace it or issue store credit, and where the mismatch is our error we expedite the replacement at no cost to you.

Our hair is naturally straight, wavy and curly rather than chemically altered into a texture, and curly pieces are knotted in curly texture from the start. That matters if you have been sent a straight piece labelled curly before.

Questions People Actually Ask

Is 1HS Global a legitimate company?

Yes. We have manufactured and exported human hair since 2009, supplying distributors and salons in the USA, Brazil and elsewhere long before we sold under our own name. We own a manufacturing facility in Pragathi Nagar, Hyderabad, employ over 200 people, and ship to customers across more than a dozen countries. We have delivered more than 500,000 orders and hold 4.9 stars from over 15,000 reviews, which are public and unfiltered. You can read every one of them here.

Who runs 1 Hair Stop, and who makes the products?

The company was founded by sisters Raina and Richa Grover in 2018, built on the family hair manufacturing and export business operating since 2009. It is women-led and largely women-staffed, from the artisans at the knotting tables to the consultants who match your colour. Nothing is outsourced.

What makes your pieces different from other brands?

Three things, and all of them are manufacturing decisions rather than marketing claims.

We tie one strand per knot. Most manufacturers tie three or four because it is three or four times faster. Ours takes between 84 and 320 hours of hand-knotting per piece, and it is the single biggest reason our work reads as hair rather than as a hairpiece. On silk toppers we go further and draw each knotted strand up through the top silk layer so the knot disappears underneath it, which is what creates a parting that looks like scalp.

We build pieces that do not exist off the shelf. Clip-free toppers, the Receding Hairline Band, Frontal Fix, Frontop Fix and Skinject were all made because customers told us the standard options did not solve their problem. A reseller cannot do that, because a reseller does not control the factory.

And we hold work to our own standard, not a supplier's. On hairline pieces, where only a handful of our artisans are trained to knot the fine front lace, a single mistake means we remake the whole piece rather than ship it.

What products do you make?

Hair toppers, including our clip-free range, for thinning at the crown or a widening parting. Hairline pieces for the front: the Receding Hairline Topper, Receding Hairline Band, Frontal Fix and Frontop Fix. Custom wigs. Clip-in extensions, halo extensions and ponytails for length and volume. Curtain bangs and other style-on pieces for changing your look in seconds. If you are unsure which fits your situation, a consultation is the fastest way to find out.

Where does your hair come from, and is it ethically sourced?

Our hair is temple-sourced in South India, where it is given voluntarily as a religious offering and then sold on by the temple. We buy at that stage, and we buy only virgin hair, meaning hair never chemically treated, dyed or coloured. Every batch is segregated by hand before it enters production. [VERIFY: confirm sourcing chain wording with the procurement team]

What does "100% Virgin Remy" mean, and why should I care?

Virgin means the hair has never been processed, which is why your piece can still be coloured and heat-styled after you receive it. Hair that has already been chemically treated cannot take that a second time. Remy means every cuticle runs in the same direction, which is what stops hair matting into itself after a few washes. The common industry shortcut is to acid-strip the cuticles off entirely, which is faster and cheaper and permanently weakens the hair. We do not do it.

Will wearing a topper damage the hair I still have?

Not if the attachment does not pull. Most toppers and wigs are held on with clips, which grip the hair around the area you are covering, and that is a real problem if that hair is already fragile or if you are dealing with tension-related hair loss at the hairline. Our clip-free toppers were designed to hold securely without that tension, and our hairline pieces cover the front without gripping the temples.

How do you match my colour from another country?

Through a free video consultation. A consultant compares shades against your own hair on camera, in daylight where possible, and works out density, size and coverage before anything goes into production. We match from a 72-shade range built over a decade of colour work. It takes about twenty minutes, and there is no charge and no obligation.

How is my piece made once I order, and when will it arrive?

Your piece is built from scratch for you, in your shade and to your measurements, which is why it sits and parts the way it does. The base is constructed first, then the hair is prepared, then knotted strand by strand, then finished and quality-checked. That work takes weeks, and longer for the intricate hairline pieces and custom wigs. You will receive an email at each stage so you can follow it, and you can reply to any of them for an update on your own order.

How long will a piece last?

12 to 18 months of daily wear with proper care, and it can be washed, heat-styled and re-coloured throughout. Generic pieces typically begin shedding and going dull within two to four months, which is the practical difference cuticle-aligned virgin hair makes.

Do you ship to my country, and will I be charged customs?

We ship worldwide, and our largest markets are the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Australia and Singapore. Every international order ships duties and taxes paid, so the price at checkout is the final price and nothing is owed on delivery. Shipments are fumigated and documented to meet destination-country requirements. Full detail is on our Duties & Taxes and Shipping & Delivery pages.

What if the colour is not right when it arrives?

We fix it. You can return the piece for a replacement, or we issue the value as store credit for you to order the correct one. Where the mismatch is our error, we expedite shipping on the replacement at no cost to you. This is why we recommend the free consultation before production starts rather than after.

How do I get a piece that is currently unavailable?

Join the waitlist. Our premium pieces are released in announced drops because hand-knotting capacity is finite, and waitlist members are notified first when the next one opens. Our largest release of the year runs around Diwali.

Do you make pieces for men?

Our range is designed primarily for women, and our consultants specialise in matching women's hair loss patterns, density and colour. If you are looking for men's coverage, book a consultation and we will tell you honestly whether we have something that fits. [VERIFY: confirm current men's range with the product team]
